Intermittent Fasting and Cortisol Control E Book
Intermittent fasting and cortisol have been shown to be clearly linked in a number of medical studies in both Europe and the United States.
A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism in 2015, titled “Acute effects of intermittent fasting on diurnal cortisol and inflammatory markers” by Foreyt et al., investigated the immediate impact of a 24-hour fast on cortisol levels and the relationship of Intermittent fasting and cortisol
* Findings: This study observed that a 24-hour fast did not significantly alter the diurnal pattern of cortisol secretion in healthy individuals. However, it did note a transient increase in cortisol levels in the late afternoon during the fasting period, which returned to baseline after refeeding. The researchers suggested that the body can adapt to short periods of fasting without causing a sustained stress response.
Quote from the study (paraphrased for clarity): “This study demonstrates that a 24-hour fasting period did not broadly disrupt diurnal cortisol profiles. While a temporary elevation in cortisol was observed during the fasting period, it was transient and followed by a return to normal levels upon food intake. This suggests that acute fasting may not inherently dysregulate the 24-hour cortisol rhythm in healthy adults.”
The dangers of continued high cortisol include, rapid weight gain, increased blood pressure resulting in strokes or heart attacks.
This ebook on Intermittent fasting and cortisol, outlines the issues in detail and shows you ways to overcome the dangers and the rewards of intermittent fasting on cortisol levels.
